Here is the link to Warne Noyce (portrait photographer) schedule of seminars in Vancouver area put on by the PPOC… I went to his first ever seminar in Williams Lake in the beginning of October and loved it. If you get a chance take it, it is very interesting and enlightening… He shares his quick workflow and creative posing ideas hints and tricks. Here is a bit of his bio… From machinist to photographer…. his first shoot was with worklights and an aim and shoot camera. Ok I cannot capture any of it to post … so take a look at the links and his web page to see his style… He is a very down to earth person with a great sense of humor and fun to listen to. (not a stuffy workshop) www.noycephotography.com You do not have to be a member of the PPOC to attend. He will be in Victoria 15 Jan 2011 The courses run from 9 – 5 Wow a cold evening for the last meeeting of the month . Mary Ann and I thought we were going to be the only ones there. But four other club members braved the cold . ( lower main land cold) Okay more stuff. A quick recap of the november nineth meeting . Leigh ( yes our very own) showed us some photo retouching skills . she started with what we all though was a good picture of some one . she shared with us how you start from the outer edges of the picture and work your way in . this seemed very odd , because we all thought the shot was good . Hair . yes we started with hair . no not the over all colour but the “” the fly aways ” the ones your mother woould lick her thumb and flatted to your head . the clone tool was used to used to remove the fuzzys . at a zoom factor i dont ever want to look at any one at . ( other than my wife ) . she worked from one side over the top and down the other . . she even removed nose and ear hair . the next part was skin . blemishes . she wrked with a very small clone stamp and low opacity . she showed us how to much / to fast a change showed up like a big circle. the trick was to hide the blemishes not remove them next was lighten the dark areas . the wrinkles and the lines from glasses . Oh. each step was done a separte layer . ill add to this more soon duck Our upcoming outing to Lynn Canyon has been changed from Saturday, October 23 to Saturday, October 30th. We will meet at the community center at 9:00 and car pool out to North Vancouver. Expect to be in the park for at least a couple of hours and probably do lunch afterwards. Dress for the weather as this outing is RAIN OR SHINE! Some of you might be interested in hearing two well-known photogs who will be in town soon. The lectures aren’t cheap, but I’m going anyway. 1. Follow the link and start shooting Here is a tidbit of what its about: Entries for the 2010-2011 contest will be accepted for two categories. The first category is a free subject category (A) and the second entitled “Energy” (B). Photos of any subject or theme are invited for the free subject category. Entries for the “Energy” category should be photos that capture the energy of sights and subjects that inspire, motivate or excite you or viewers. Photos covering a broad range of subject matter from throughout the world are expected for both categories. The Emerging Talent Award is awarded to provide younger photographers with an opportunity to share their photos and a goal towards which they may work, and many photos are entered by young photographers each time this contest is held. Any professional or amateur photographer, regardless of age, gender or nationality, may participate.
Entry periodSeptember 1 (Wednesday) through November 30 (Tuesday), 2010 Entry methodImage data will be accepted via the Internet. Fill out the application form on the Nikon Photo Contest International 2010-2011 website (http://www.nikon-npci.com/) and transmit image data via the form. For those who regularly use Adobe products, you might already know about it… but if not, consider having a look at the newly launched Adobe TV. Of particular interest to many of us would be the “photography channel” where you’ll find tips and tutorials for applications like Photoshop and Lightroom, but also interviews with professional photographers (no doubt extolling the virtues of using Adobe products) where you might gain some insight and inspiration when you see how they approach their art. |
