For those who regularly use Adobe products, you might already know about it… but if not, consider having a look at the newly launched Adobe TV.

Of particular interest to many of us would be the “photography channel” where you’ll find tips and tutorials for applications like Photoshop and Lightroom, but also interviews with professional photographers (no doubt extolling the virtues of using Adobe products) where you might gain some insight and inspiration when you see how they approach their art.

Many people are sharing their photos using slideshow software, whether it be at clubs, on DVDs for friends and families, or on social networking sites like Facebook and YouTube.

But many people are disappointed with their results, whether it be from a lack of knowing how to use the tools or perhaps not knowing how to structure a “story” with images.

This course has two parts — first you learn how to use your tools (in this case Proshow Gold), and second how to add impact to your show by considering the story you’re trying to tell. How you treat your images can directly affect how your audience perceives your show.

Whether you’re just starting out with slideshows or just need some help brushing up on your story telling skills, this course is for you.

The course runs for 2 days, each day may be taken separately if you feel you need help in only one area. But you save money if you take both days together. $75 for one day, $115 for both (plus the dreaded HST)

There has been a large amount of suggestions, and I’m probably forgetting a bunch, but here goes:

• As the title implies, also go for a photoshoot after the brunch.
• Do an early morning photoshoot to get the sunrise. Then the brunch.
• Have brunch in a place with WiFi so we can share online content.
• Guerilla photoshoot, say downtown.
• Profile photo photoshoot, so we can put faces on the web site.
• Strobist photoshoot (with portable flashes).
• Photoshoot with studio strobes. If outdoors, I can bring portable power.
• Sports event photoshoot.
• Telephoto photoshoot.
• Wide-angle photoshoot.

The possibilities seem endless! If anybody has any more suggestions, please either comment on this post, send me email, etc.

When this club was founded it was decided to have 4 elected positions and the rest would be “volunteer positions” or “appointed positions”.

This year we are looking to fill the following posts:

Membership Coordinator
Website Coordinator

If you are interested in helping out next year, please let us know or better yet, come forward at the meeting on June 8th and volunteer for one of these positions.

By the way, the meeting on the 8th of June will be our last “official” meeting of the year. We may get together on an ad hoc basis over the summer. Mostly we do this to get out in our neighbourhood, take some photos and keep in touch with our fellow photographers.

Also on the 8th once we have had our elections anyone who wishes to share some of their photographic work is welcome to bring it along. Please bring your work on a thumb drive so we can share with the members.

Mostly the last meeting will be a social gathering, so please bring some snacks to share and we can visit for the balance of the meeting.

On the Saturday portion of the event, are several seminars of which you choose which ones interest you. Included in the cost of the event are snacks at coffee time as well as lunch.

Each year a special keynote speaker presents seminars after lunch, in the evening and for a full day on Sunday, if you choose to attend the Sunday portion of the event. This year reknown photographer, Bryan Peterson (google him if you haven’t heard of his work) is the keynote speaker.

Registration is available online and be sure to register early to get the courses you are most interested in.
